About us
Do you believe that every individual deserves affordable and reliable access to their health information? So do we. Function Health was founded with a singular focus: to empower you to live 100 healthy years. A Function membership starts with routine whole-body lab testing (100+ tests) and personalized evidence-based insights from the world's top doctors. It puts your health in your hands and eliminates layers of noise and complexity. Function is an annual subscription designed to serve people throughout their lifetime.

This is the first layer of a new type of digital health system built around you, growing towards a future of AI-enabled ownership and understanding of your health, now and in the future.

Our team, led by seasoned technology founders and renowned doctor Mark Hyman MD (Cleveland Clinic, 15x NYT Best Selling author), is seeking two creative and experienced Software Engineers.

Being a pragmatic Software Engineer, you?re probably interested in knowing about our tech team. The tech team is led by engineers behind machine learning systems built and deployed at scale, including a former tech lead from Google Research. We?re a scrappy team of about 45 full-time engineers/designers/PMs and looking to add a few more badass engineers to our team to help us scale our systems and impact.

The role
We are seeking TWO confident, competent, and gritty Software Engineers to join our dynamic team. As a Software Engineer at Function, you?ll be part of a team that?s dedicated to using technology to improve healthcare. You?ll work on a cutting-edge platform that enables our members to access their health data in real-time, and you?ll be challenged to make a difference in people?s lives. You will work with our product and engineering teams to create scalable and robust solutions that are user-friendly and highly secure.

The ideal candidate will be meticulous in their attention to detail, self-motivated, resourceful, and capable of thriving in a fast-paced environment. As an early member of our tech team, you?re contributions will play a critical role in shaping the future of our systems as we scale from currently thousands of members to millions. There is no ceiling for growth or impact in this role.

Applicants seeking an easy job, a big corporation, a slow pace, or predictable 9-to-5 hours need not apply. This role requires energy, talent, and a genuine passion for Function?s mission.

Responsibilities
Design, develop and maintain our platform, ensuring high-quality code and best practices are followed.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement new features and functionalities that provide a seamless user experience.
Identify and resolve technical issues, ensuring our platform is always up-to-date and performing optimally.
Participate in code reviews, providing feedback to improve the overall quality and maintainability of the codebase.
Act as a mentor to junior engineers, encouraging a culture of continuous learning and growth.
Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies, tools and trends, and apply them to solve business problems.
Requirements
Bias toward action.
Possess an entrepreneurial spirit, adapting to changing business needs and building processes.
5+ years of experience in software engineering with a focus on building scalable and reliable systems.
Strong knowledge of at least one programming language like Python, GO, Rust, or Java.
Experience with cloud-based platforms, such as AWS or Google Cloud, and containerization technologies, such as Docker.
Strong understanding of software engineering principles and best practices, including Agile methodologies, test-driven development, and continuous integration and deployment.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to understand complex systems and break them down into manageable components.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Comfortable with remote work.
Willing to question assumptions and committed to continuous improvement
Nice-to-haves
Experience designing & building systems at-scale
Data Engineering experience
Start-up experience. We especially love former founders or early Eng hires.
Knowledgeable about popular health technologies (e.g., Oura, Whoop, Apple Watch, CGMs)
We value our team at Function and offer a competitive salary and benefits package, flexible working hours, and a dynamic work environment where creativity and innovation are encouraged. If you are a highly motivated and experienced TPM who is passionate about using technology to improve people?s lives, we would love to hear from you. Join us on our mission to revolutionize the health technology industry!
