DMT Lawyers is seeking an experienced AI/Automation Engineer to lead the design, development, and implementation of intelligent systems that enhance the efficiency, accessibility, and scalability of our legal services. This role will focus on integrating artificial intelligence solutions such as ChatGPT, document automation, workflow tools, and custom APIs into our existing infrastructure to support client services and internal operations.
The ideal candidate is a technically skilled problem-solver who understands both software development and the unique compliance, confidentiality, and process requirements of a legal environment.
Key Responsibilities
Design & Build AI-Driven Tools
- Implement and maintain solutions like ChatGPT or Azure OpenAI to assist with client intake, legal research support, and document drafting.
Automation of Legal Workflows
- Develop automation scripts and tools for form population (e.g., USCIS forms), case updates, and routine correspondence.
Systems Integration
- Connect tools like Monday, MyCase, Microsoft 365, or document management systems via APIs for seamless data flow.
Prompt Engineering
- Create, test, and refine prompt templates to ensure AI tools perform legal tasks accurately, safely, and in line with firm standards.
Data Structuring for AI
- Organize internal knowledge (e.g., SOPs, templates, expert letters) to enable effective use with RAG (retrieval-augmented generation) systems.
Security & Compliance
- Ensure all AI integrations and data handling comply with ethical obligations and data privacy standards (e.g., ABA Model Rules, GDPR, HIPAA if relevant).
Cross-Team Collaboration
- Work with attorneys, paralegals, and operations staff to identify automation opportunities and train users on AI-enabled tools.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor?s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in software development or automation, ideally in legal tech, SaaS, or a compliance-heavy field.
Proficiency in:
- Python or C#
- OpenAI API, LangChain, or RAG systems
- REST APIs and JSON
- Microsoft Power Automate, Zapier, or similar tools
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with legal tech platforms (e.g., Clio, NetDocuments, MyCase, Monday).
- Background in prompt engineering or fine-tuning language models.
Experience deploying solutions via Azure or AWS.
- Familiarity with immigration workflows or form-based legal practices (e.g., USCIS filings).
- Familiarity with data privacy laws and secure application development.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to translate legal needs into technical solutions.
Compensation
Base Monthly Compensation: $1,800.00 ? $2,300.00 (USD), depending on experience
Performance Bonus: Up to 10% of salary paid quarterly based on individual and firm-wide performance
